| These
pieces are on random-shaped white cardboard generally sized 5"
x 5" or smaller. I made more than 300 of these pieces between 2005-7. I worked on cardboard to mimic the temporary state of life. Each piece contains a universe of objects. The objects live and change according to the shape of the universe and other things surrounding them. The more cardboard pieces I made, the more I realized that little universes exist everywhere; lay a brick in the yard and it begins to harbor new things. Two months later, the universe is disrupted when somebody trips over the brick changing everything. Each piece of cardboard explores a new and changing universe. Artistically, white cardboard accepts pigment readily but looks dirty and does not photograph easily. I do not recommend the surface, but would not un-do experience working with it. | ||
