Strange man is me

My art doesn't suffer ordinariness, nor does it burden with dullness.

This picture is autobiographical. I am early 30's and painting myself in the future. I am far away in exotic landscape staring at a white fairy-woman with an insane asylum in the background.

I tediously painted the face over many times until giving up in failure. The mountains were joyful as I imagined walking on each while painting them. Colors were selected to differentiate each mountain. The bird pictured flying to the right of the main figure was a tool to create interest and depth <> it lets the eye follow to the intense face and then back to the relaxing mountains <> the bird was necessary because the mountains needed to be nearly invisible on the right side of the head to add volume to the face. The bird 'explains-away' the inconsistent lightness in mountain color to the right of the head.

The figure is posed oddly. He is standing upright on a bike without using hands while using shoulders to balance. The bike was purposely left out of the composition. The man is looking inside a world that doesn't exist while riding a bike. I used to stand on a bike similarly.
